IMPACT Tuscaloosa![]() Impact Tuscaloosa begins this Sunday at 5:30 PM at Christ Harbor. Supper will be served that night followed by worship. Once worship is complete, we will travel to our host homes for the tornado cleanup work days of Impact.
Our work days will begin at 7 AM at Christ Harbor where we will meet for breakfast and to receive our daily work assignments. Lunch will be served on site and, following a tough day of work, we will finish the day with swimming followed by supper and worship at Christ Harbor starting at 6 PM. If at any time you need to get in touch with us, our contact information is included in this email. After 3 days of recovery work, we will load up on Thursday at 6:30 AM to head to Panama City Beach. We encourage parents to meet that morning to ensure students are prepared for the beach trip and to see us off. We understand that the extended length of this trip will affect how you must pack for the trip. We are offering a couple suggestions on how to deal with the luggage for the work days and beach days. We will provide a bag for your student to put dirty clothes in that will be available for you to pick up either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. If needed, you can bring an additional bag on Thursday morning for the second half of the trip. If you chose to do this, we ask that you make sure your student has everything they need for the beach. We are excited about Impact and expect that this trip will create lasting memories as your student learns to be the hands and feet of Christ in this hurting world. What is IMPACT Tuscaloosa
It's our summer mission experience and trip. However, this year things are a little different. Instead of traveling, we will stay here in Tuscaloosa and help with Tornado recovery. Then we will end the week with a time at the beach in Panama City at our favorite spot, Sunnyside Beach and Tennis Resort. It's our two summer trips packed into one.
Normally the beach retreat is a middle school event, but this year it is for all students who have participated in the service projects from earlier in the week and for those students moving up into the 6th grade.
At the beach retreat we will enjoy the sunshine, a great pool, an incredible resort and take a trip to Shipwreck Island (ticket included in cost of trip). We will also spend a great amount of time learning how to share Christ with others plus we will each get to experience doing just that. We will worship together and also get to experience communion on the beach (always a very special night!).
Who can participate
The service part of the trip, 10th-13th, is for the students in last years classes of 6th-12th grade. This upcoming school year rising 6th graders can join us for the beach retreat on Thursday, July 14th. After IMPACT, the rising 6th graders will be full flegged members of the student ministry and may participate in all student activities and programs from then on out.
Where is this thing going to happen
We are staying here in Tuscaloosa for the service part of the event. Where exactly is TBA at this time. We will get up to work in the morning, get back later in the day, clean up, play a little and worship together that night then head to bed.
The second half of the trip will be at Sunnyside Beach and Tennis Resort in Panama City. Awesome place.
When is it
The service part of the trip is 10th-13th, we leave for the beach on Thursday the 14th and return Sunday the 17th.
How much will it cost me
$180 per student (any additional student per household will only be $150). This includes housing, transportation, food (except 3 meals on the road), t-shirt, and a ticket to Shipwreck Island. Students will need money for the three meals on the road, for miscellaneous food and snacks, and souvenirs.
