Summertime
Summertime can be a great time to shift gears, but that doesn’t mean things slow down here at Christ Harbor. This Sunday, June 7, a lot is happening. It all kicks off at 7:30am Sunday with our inaugural Men’s Prayer Breakfast. Christ Harbor’s Men will gather for fellowship and leadership as we cover our families, our church, and our community in prayer. Then, at 9am, a new Summer Formation Group, “She Belongs,” led by Donna Colburn, will begin. Later, from 6 to 8pm, Rainforest Falls Vacation Bible School gets started for the week.
As we seek to live into God’s unique vision for Christ Harbor to be a center of Kingdom impact and influence across our community and region, key areas of focus include increasing our leadership capacity and multi-generational discipleship. This means, if we are to realize God’s vision among us, we must step into those places, like leading our families and community in prayer, discerning our unique personal calling and place in the body of Christ, and investing in the next generation of Christ followers. Everything we do is shaped by these critical objectives, as well as increasing the impact of our communications and enhancing our missional engagement. To this last objective, our children will be collecting money to fill baby bottles for our Strategic Mission Partner, New Day Women’s Clinic (Sav-A-Life Tuscaloosa), and next week there just might be a challenge coming for the adults.
Throughout this summer, there will be lots of opportunities to walk in our calling and purpose. Everything we do is done with focus and intention. We’re not called to just live random lives, neither do we perform “random acts of ministry.” With intentionality and purpose, we drive forward into the summer, even if it is with a little more relaxed and casual pace.
