So What’s the Big Deal…?
So what’s the big deal about Kairos Prison Ministry? You’ve heard about the weekend for many years at Christ Harbor. You may have even baked cookies multiple times for the weekend, but what exactly is a Kairos Prison weekend experience?
First, what does “Kairos” mean? “Kairos” is a Greek word that, in a biblical context, refers to God’s timing or His appointed season when divine action or salvation occurs. Think about it: prison is the opportune place to demonstrate the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. It’s a powerful place and season for God’s timing to touch and transform a person’s spirit.
A Kairos 72-hour weekend is held inside a prison, organized by approximately 50 people from the free world, alongside numerous outside supporters praying, making cookies, creating place mats, and buying meal tickets. The event is modeled after an Emmaus Walk, composed of immense Christian love, extended to the inmates through cookies, good food, Christian fellowship, and 15 talks. In these talks, speakers relate their personal hardships and victories through Christ. If you’ve been to Emmaus, you know how the Holy Spirit draws people to Jesus in a new and deeper way. The transformations that take place over the weekend are inspiring to see. It’s no different at a Kairos weekend. God is faithful to build His church during this transformative experience.
A new Kairos is just around the corner, taking place from August 13 to 16 in Bibb Prison. Several men from Christ Harbor, Joe Stinnett, Josh and Ansel Stinnett, and Dan Robertson, will be participating. Will you help love on the incarcerated men in Bibb Prison that they go to serve? You can pray, buy meal tickets, and/or make cookies. Please see the specifics below for how to properly participate in each of these.
You know, what is really fascinating about serving, regardless of the type of event or service we do, is that it’s always interesting to see how God also works in those who serve, as well as those being served. When serving, the transformative power of God doesn’t flow in just one direction.

-Pray every time Kairos comes to mind
-Stop by the Kairos table at Christ Harbor to sign up for a 30-minute prayer slot
-Purchase $10 meal tickets providing meals for the participants
-Provide homemade cookies (the men really like Rice Krispy treats & brownies!). Please, no powdered sugar on the outside of cookies and no fruit.
-Pray over the cookies while you package 12 per zip-lock bag – cookies must be in the Kairos cookie box on or before Wednesday, August 12.
