The Map and Journey Toward Purpose

Donna Colburn   -

You may have noticed some new artwork on our walls, including our Discipleship Map. This map details the journey of finding eternal purpose in your everyday life, and it begins with community. If you are a Christian, you belong to the body of Christ. You have a place and a purpose within the body of Christ. You are not complete if you are not fulfilling your part, and the body is not complete without you.

How do I find my place in community at Christ Harbor? It starts with worship. Every Sunday morning the church gathers together, united in Spirit, to honor and praise our Creator, the one true God. We come not as consumers for what we can receive, but as contributors for what we can give.

Beyond worship, we have Discipleship Groups that provide community. Life Groups provide connection and support. Formation Groups seek to transform us into the image of Christ. Covenant Groups provide a high degree of accountability. If you have not found your place in a Discipleship Group, go here to find one.

Community is the environment where we join with others in the body of Christ to be formed into His image and equipped to live out our unique purpose. We are each created by God with specific gifts that work together when we are united in purpose. Do you know your purpose and are you walking in it? On September 13 at 9am, we are starting a new course, Handcrafted Calling, that will help to equip you. We are encouraging everyone at Christ Harbor to complete this course. You can register here.

Don’t be afraid to stop and ask for directions. If you need some help finding your next step on your journey, I would love to help. You can email me at dcolburn@christharbor.org or text/call at 205-344-0414.

When we encourage one another in community to be transformed into the image of Christ, and we live out the eternal purpose for which God created us, it will transform our everyday lives. When we unite as the body of Christ, we can transform the world around us.
