Ash Wednesday
February 18 6:00 pm

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of intentional preparation, remembering Jesus’ time in the wilderness, fasting, praying, and preparing for his earthly ministry. We receive the ashes and anointing oil on our foreheads as a symbol of the stain of our sin and our mortality. But, in our Ash Wednesday service, we also then receive the grace of God through the bread and juice of Holy Communion. These powerful signs together proclaim how our confession and repentance of sin immediately open the door for Christ’s work of redemption, restoration, and reconciliation in our lives.
This brief act of worship together at 6:00pm, will lead us directly into our normal Wednesday night groups. Children will come forward and be dismissed first, followed by Students, and finally Adults to go to their small groups as well.
