The Heart of Summer

Jonathan Lawson   -

It’s hard to believe that June is rapidly passing by, and we will very soon be celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our nation. Getting deep into the heart of summertime, heading for the dog days, it’s easy to hit a bit of a lull. And it’s okay to slow down, enjoy, and take in all the things that make summers in the South special. From pool parties and lemonade to fireworks and watermelon, lightning bugs and cicadas on the front porch, all of these things give this time of year a sense of calm, peace, and anticipation. Before we know it, Fall will be upon us with tailgates, back to school, and a whole new rhythm and schedule.

One of the most important things coming to Christ Harbor in the months ahead is our Fall Covenant Group Gathering Lunch, Sunday, August 16, right after worship. This will be a chance for all current Covenant Group members who were unable to make our May Gathering, as well as anyone interested in learning more about Covenant Groups, to hear the vitally important vision and direction of this critical component of Spiritual Formation here at Christ Harbor, and kick off a new year of support and accountability in community. This essential experience for all engaged in Covenant Group formation will help you better understand the role you are playing in helping us realize God’s grand vision for Christ Harbor, and hopefully lead to some new groups being formed.

More details will be coming in the days ahead, but for now, mark your calendar for August 16, Sunday Lunch at the church, and invite someone you know and care about to be a part of it as well.
